The first Electric Vehicle Charging Station, launched and set up a few days back in Islamabad, had been made functional on Monday.
The first charging station has been set up in the federal capital at the Pakistan State Oil (PSO), F-7 Markaz by Barqtron Energy Company.
The charging station was operationalised after the successful completion of the supply, installation, and commissioning of the first Electric Vehicle (EV) Charger.
The spokesman of the Ministry of Science and Technology termed this initiative as a welcoming move for the country which would soon witness electric vehicles running on its roads.
The state-run news agency, quoting a tweet from Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Hussain, stated that the opening of EV (E-vehicles) charging station would help encourage electric vehicles as future transportation.”
The minister also said that there would be only 1% duty on the establishment of EV’s manufacturing units in Pakistan. While the science ministry is also working on a policy to shift vehicles on battery in the future.
